Pomegranate Margarita Recipe

'Tis the season for pomegranates and that means margaritas too

Just because those poolside margaritas have slipped away at the close of summer and fall doesn't mean other themed margaritas aren't still on the drinks menu.

Enter the pomegranate margarita! I love a good fall and winter cocktail that has absolutely nothing to do with pumpkin spice. So here it is, in all it's glory--beautiful coloring, a tad sweet, a tad tart, and with some added polyphenols for good health.

 Pomegranate Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
Top shelf Tequila, preferably Blanco
Fresh lime juice

Pomegranate juice, not from concentrate, unsweetened

Triple Sec, the best you can get

Salt for glass rim, course sea salt is best!

Pomegranate arils for float decoration and sliced limes for rim

Method:

Wet your glass rims with pomegranate juice, then dip into salt. Fill with ice.

Pour into a shaker with 4-5 cubes of ice;

  • 4 fluid ounces white tequila

  • 3 fluid ounces triple sec

  • 2 fluid ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 1 fluid ounce pomegranate juice, not from concentrate! If you use concentrated, you won't get the full benefit of the good-for-you polyphenols.

Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Pour liquid strained from ice into glasses, add a few pomegranate arils on top and a wedge or slice of fresh lime onto the rims if desired. Enjoy!
